Task: Advertising, marketing. Getting the word out to those that would register to attend our site. Registration limited to about 200 people. The facilities will hold 250. However, by the time we have sponsors and volunteers, I think we would have more than 250. We don't want to wear out our welcome. Where? craigslist? newspapers? Tear off postings? Hi Joe,
I suggest we create an invite and disseminate to all local user groups and Meetups:
Plus our friends at NEOSA. The key will be a registration site where we can track attendees, I have a mechanism for that but the Sun logo is present on the site ... if that matters. Scott |

Here is an example of how the registration site might look to potential attendees:

Scott, we can use that since it looks very professional. Though we had discussed simply registering folks via meetup. On meetup we can ask whatever additional questions we want.
Also we are trying to not charge if we can help it. So we need to blast out some serious advertising. Considering that many people rsvp and then do not show up. Thus the reason to charge. But if we can avoid it by ensuring we have a good turn out anyhow, we're all for it being free. |

Hi Joe, NEOSA is a great idea. I think we can let other groups know as well, in case they want to participate. Since NEOSA is a part of COSE< I think tapping that resource would be great, if the NEOSA folks are willing to help us there, great. I also know a couple members of COSE, so I will bring this to their attention. |

I've just posted the event to Upcoming, a popular (and useful) event sharing site: Upcoming : Software Freedom Day - Cleveland.
Please show your hope or pledge to attend, there, if you're able! |
