What I think would help us alot First, (both to frame who we'll want, topics to be discussed, AND for a layman like me who are still trying to understand SFD. ) is a well defined Mission Statement (perhaps taken right from the SFD.org) and a learning obectives/ Goals perhaps with a corresponding "who should attend" paragraph. (i may even realize, I'm in the wrong room ;> )

We could work on that- this coming Monday/ Wednesday- This may make it easier for us (especially for us newbees).

If you've already got these things down or its just understood -as it is related on the SFD international website, Sorry - Ya'll can catch me up at the next meeting. Or just refer me to said site.

see ya soon

Sun sent us this excellent gem, which I think we can incorporate into our mission statement.

Join the celebration on Monday, October 20, 2008.

For most of us, technology is a big part of our lives. We rely on our computers, PDAs, and cell phones to help us with almost everything. It’s amazing when you think about the everyday impact technology has on our world. And as a community, we have the power to make sure that technology continues to take us on a path of opportunity, innovation and freedom.

Software Freedom Day celebrates transparent and open technology, and Sun sees the promise of open source software as the perfect way for anyone to create a world of expanded opportunity, increased flexibility, and continual innovation. If you share our perspective, we invite you to support open source software by celebrating Software Freedom Day, Monday, October 20, 2008.

So join in, release your ideas, explore new code...have fun!

Become a part of the Open Source Meetup at http://opensource.mee.... and celebrate on Monday, October 20, 2008.

Change (y)our world. Support Software Freedom Day.

Targetting Users and Business persons,

we are looking for

every topic whether lay or technical should be touching upon the pragmatic applications that a lay person can use. Perhaps listing some examples.

Some talks going in depth. Such as Ubuntu or Gimp or ERP or Accounting. Business Applications.
