hi guys. I really like the recent email Joe sent out -with the Mission statement and explanation and expressed enthusiasm ..He said...

What is FOSS or Free Software? It is software that has been licensed in a manner that allows users to run it for any purpose, to redistribute copies to others, to change the software to suit their needs and to redistribute those changes as well. When we say Free Software, think of free as in speech, rather than free as in beer.

We will gather on Monday October 27th at the Gemini Center in Fairview Park for our Software Freedom Day Cleveland Conference. The conference's purpose is expressed in our catchword of the day, ACE: Associate, Celebrate, Educate.

*Associate with professionals and businesses that create and offer technical support for Free Software.

*Celebrate the freedom and vastness of the FOSS ecosystem.

*Educate the public, IT workers, business owner and leaders, and other users about the enormous benefits of Free Software.

If we are looking for more to put on a written Announcement/Brochure, Ie "background, GOALS, Who should attend", This is a nice block from which to build. In a "background paragraph, following the "Mission Statement" It will be important to give fuller descriptions and perhaps an example of FOSS applications for a regular-guy lay computer user. Though I would agree with the 1 (maybe 2 ) paragraph length.

I just wanted to get my two cents in, and thought another topic on the board devoted to input on "backgroung and goals" would be appropriate.
P.O. (peace out!)

Rob, we've been reviewing the things you said and you are right on tap. Didn't want you to think we were ignoring it, just getting the site up and going.
